MusicMusic has merged into the artists repertoire of art after a long dormant period since his late teens.Music played a big part in his life back then with development through piano tuition, school musical plays and talent quests. His late teens saw him flirting with writing 'tune poetry' and getting a band together with his mates who were into hard core rock and didn't approve of the Reggae and disco funk music he listened to. Apart from informal jams, banging congas and sing alongs at rowdy parties, the visual arts were begining to activate his creative energies. Eighteen years later the drum brought him back around. Currently he performs a.k.a. 'Side Show Bob show' and is often joined on stage by invited guest musicians. He writes lyrics and composes tunes on a keyboard sequencer, arranging samples and a number of instruments to produce a full band sound. The style is a mix of genres with a jazz base and leans toward an up beat tempo. On stage he sings along with the sequenced music and plays a percussion rig with additional chimes, pans and bells as well as occasional harmonica, or melodica. Sometimes he performs in a vibrant tribal costume adding an extra visual component to a gig. Side Show Bob has a CD out called "Fox in the Zen House". A live recording from a performance on New Years Eve 2003 at a 3 day Music and Arts event called Visionz Festival. The CD is 5 tracks - 40 minutes for sale at $15.00 NZ + post/handling. He is currently working on material for another CD + video. Due out March 2006. Have a listen to the short samples or contact Side Show Bob if you have any enquiries.
